On 1 November 2019 at 10.00 a.m., at the meeting room of the Fish Inspection and Quality Control Division, Department of Fisheries Mr. Vicharn Ingsrisawang, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, he expressed appreciation and listened to suggestions from the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service (NFDS) staff, who visited and inspected Thailand's seafood processing factory during October 28 - 31, 2019. According to the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on "Quality Control and Hygiene Safety of Import and Export Fish and Fishery Products" between Thailand and the Republic of Korea since 2006. The Republic of Korea is a market that has the potential to produce high-quality aquatic products and wants to import great quality products. Therefore, Thai business operators need to develop and improve the production process from the farm level to the products in strict accordance with the requirements of the Republic of Korea. Mr. Bunchong Chumnongsittathum led the delegation of Vietnam to visit the operation of the Port-in Port-out (PIPO) Center at the Phuket Fish Marketing Organisation’s pier
On 31 October 2019, Mr. Bunchong Chumnongsittathum, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, led the delegation of the Directorate of Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development from the Republic of Vietnam, which led by Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Fisheries. To visit the operation of the Port-in Port-out (PIPO) Center at the Phuket Fish Marketing Organisation’s pier. In this regard, the PIPO staff have demonstrated procedures for verifying relevant documents. Inspection of fishing crew documents, Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) signs, and vessel identity. Also, they described the structure, mission, responsibility, and operation procedures of the Port-in Port-out (PIPO) Center to the Vietnamese delegation. On 25 October 2019 at 10.00 a.m., at the Pak Pian Meeting Room, 5th floor, Chulabhorn Building, Department of Fisheries. Executives of the Seafood Taskforce paid a visit to Mr. Mesak Pakdeekong, Director-General of the Department of Fisheries. To discuss and thank the Department of Fisheries for participating in solving the Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing problem and Fishery product traceability development, also solving labor problems in the fisheries sector with Seafood Taskforce has always been good. That helps to enhance the good image of Thailand fishery products from the consumer perspective in the US and European. Additionally, to ensure confidence for importers and retail companies that are members of Seafood Taskforce, especially sea shrimp product. So that, Mr. Mesak Pakdeekong also emphasized that the Department of Fisheries would continue working together with Seafood Taskforce, including OceanMind, a new partner of Seafood Taskforce.
