IYAFA 2022 Closing Ceremony for Asia

On 28 February 2023, the Department of Fisheries of Thailand, in collaboration with Too Big To Ignore Global Partnership for Small-scale Fisheries Research (TBTI) and INFOFISH, will conduct the IYAFA 2022 Closing Ceremony for Asia under the theme "Towards a new age of support for small-scale fisheries and aquaculture in Asia" at the Department in virtual format.

According to Mr. Chalermchai Suwannrak, Director-General of the Department, Thailand has played a key role in promoting artisanal fisheries, which enhance Thailand's economic competitiveness and food security while also providing a better livelihood for fishers and aquaculture farmers. Three implementation approaches for career development, conservation and restoration of fishery resources, and life quality improvement will be carried out, with an emphasis on the participation of all relevant sectors.

In relation to the IYAFA 2022 Closing Ceremony for Asia, which will take place on 28 February 2023 with the collaboration of the Department, TBTI, and INFOFISH, and with the support of FAO, it will provide an opportunity for Asian member countries to deliver their commitment, vision, and review their previous year's activities, as well as future plans. This event will feature speakers from regional organizations and countries.
