Mr. Mesak Pakdeekong, Director-General of the Department of Fisheries on the joint official visit to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia

On 23 December 2019, Mr. Alongkorn Ponlabut, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives along with Mr. Mesak Pakdeekong, Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, H.E. Mr. Songphol Sukchan, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, and a delegation from the private sector consisting of (1) Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand (2) Thai Frozen Food Association (TFFA) (3) Thai Tuna Industry Association (TTIA) and (4) The Pet Food Industry Association of Thailand  (PIA) paid an official visit to Jakarta, the Republic of Indonesia. 

They paid a courtesy call on H.E. Edhy Prabowo, The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and H.E. Bahlil Lahadalia, The Chairman of Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). 

Mr. Alongkorn Ponlabut and his team congratulated them on their new positions, also the occasion that Thailand and Indonesia a very close to the diplomatic relations of both countries and will mark the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year (2020).
 

Furthermore, both sides discussed and joint press statement on combatting the Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing also ASEAN cooperation through pushing ASEAN general fisheries policy and ASEAN Network for Combating IUU Fishing in joint disposal of marine waste. 

Moreover, discussing the import of lobster larvae that will be reared to the market size and increases market demand from both home and abroad. As well as driving investment in fishery business between the two countries by using the strengths of Thailand and Indonesia and suitability in terms of business that West Papua is a suitable area to be a pilot area.
