On 13 January 2020, at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Mesak Pakdeekong, Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, welcomed the delegates from the OceanMind consist of Mr.Bradley Soule, Mr.Mark Nicholson, and Ms.Natalie Tellwright. Both sides exchanged information and experience on cooperation in fishery resource management, including combatting the Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing that leads to sustainable fisheries.
The meeting was held at the Tuna meeting room, 6th floor, Chulabhorn Building, Department of Fisheries, Bangkok, Thailand.
The OceanMind is a not-for-profit organization that empowers enforcement and compliance to protect the world's fisheries. The OceanMind began in 2014 as "Project Eyes on the Seas," a collaboration between the Satellite Applications Catapult and The Pew Charitable Trusts.
The organization focuses on using satellites and artificial intelligence, OceanMind empowers fisheries authorities and seafood buyers to understand the compliance of fishing around the world, both near and offshore. Besides provide confidential direct support, training, and capacity building to governments and IGOs, as well as risk management and due diligence to the seafood industry.
