On January 10, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Thaworn Jirasophonrak, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, along with the Department of Fisheries officials attended the meeting to hear the progress report of "Shrimp Health Resources Improvement Project (SHRImp)" by representations from Fish Vet Group Asia Ltd., Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), FAI Farms, and INVE Aquaculture.
SHRImp project is a project under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Fisheries and Inve Thailand Ltd and working with the shrimp farmers in Chumpon and Surat Thani provinces in Thailand.
The project aims to develop tools and interfaces to farmers, industry associations, including the Department of Fisheries in the surveillance and prevention of shrimp diseases such as Enterocytozoon Hepatopenaei (EHP), acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND).
Additionally, to improve their productivity and to help clubs, co-ops, and local government better understand and manage to emerge and reduce disease outbreaks at individual farms and the area-level. Also, to reduce the risk of shrimp farming and production, which will benefit the development of the Thai shrimp industry.
The meeting was held at the Pak Pian Meeting Room, 5th floor, Chulabhorn Building, Department of Fisheries, Bangkok, Thailand.
