Mr. Bunchong Chumnongsittathum, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries along with Mr. Pholphisin Suvanachai, Director of Fisheries Foreign Affairs Division, as a representative of the Department of Fisheries attended The 34th INFOFISH Governing Council Meeting as an INFOFISH member state during 16 - 19 December 2019 at the Champa Central Hotel in Male’, the Republic of Maldives. With the Minister for Fisheries of the Republic of Fiji, HE. Semi Koroilavesau delivered a statement at the Inaugural Ceremony of the Meeting.
 

INFOFISH is a regional intergovernmental organization for marketing information and technical advisory services for fisheries products in the Asian and Pacific region. It was originally launched in 1981 as a project of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. It has 13 member nations; Maldives, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Iran. Malaysia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
 

The session aims to strengthen cooperation in marketing information and technical advisory services for fisheries products and jointly formulate policies and operational activities to maximize benefits for the aquaculture industry in Thailand and member nations.
