On Tuesday 8 October 2019 at 3 p.m., Mr. Alongkorn Ponlabut, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, welcomed the Environmental Justice Foundation's (EJF) Executive Director, Mr. Steve Trent and the delegation of European Union. To discuss and acknowledge Thailand's Progress in Combating the Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing.

The discussion was attended by Mr. Mesak Pakdeekong, Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, Mrs. Umaporn Pimonlabut, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Adisorn Promthep, Advisor, Department of Fisheries and Mr. Bunchong Chumnongsittathum, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries. They addressed such issues and strengthened cooperation on the development of  Thailand's proper and sustainable fisheries.

EJF is a private organization that plays an important role in preserving the marine environment, including combatting IUU fishing over the past four years.
