As it is an initial stage of setting up ANAAHC, DOF Thailand will provide suitably qualified staff, existing capacity and necessary infrastructure of the Aquatic Animal Health Research and Development Division (AAHRDD) for the operation of ANAAHC.

In term of existing capacity of AAHRDD, it has long term experience as a centre for aquatic animal disease research in South East Asia which was initially funded by an Overseas Development Agency (ODA) or Department for International Development (DFID) project. AAHRDD infrastructure comprises four buildings as the main administrative office and six laboratories including Bacteriology, Parasitology and Mycology, Virology, Immunology, Histology, Drug and Chemical Analysis Laboratories. AAHRDD has been providing disease diagnosis and advice to farmers, fish hobbyists and import-export fish farms or companies. With funding support from international donor agencies, AAHRDD has been conducting training courses in many aspects of aquatic animal health at national and international levels for over 10 years. More importantly, AAHRDD is the OIE Reference Laboratory for epizootic ulcerative syndrome and also a NACA Regional Resource Centre for aquatic animal health.
