On June 11, 2024, Mr. Praphan Leepayakhun, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, along with Ms. Pitchaya Chainak, Expert in Coastal Aquaculture, Mr. Choltisak Chawpaknam, Director of the Fisheries Foreign Affairs Division, Ms. Chutima Khamwilai, Director of Fish Inspection and Quality Control Division, and officials from relevant divisions, welcomed Mr. Stanislav Golubev, Second Secretary (Agricultural Section) of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Thailand, to the Department of Fisheries for discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation. The meeting centered on the potential signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to address IUU Fishing, the fishery product trade between Thailand and Russia, and the prospects for Thai canned fish and snapper exporters to broaden their market presence in Russia.
During the meeting, Mr. Stanislav Golubev extended an invitation to the Department of Fisheries and the Thai private sector to participate in the Russia Expo scheduled for September 2024.
