The Workshop on Sharing Knowledge and Experiences on Small-Scale Marine Fisheries Data Collection and Management for Sustainable Development in the APEC Region

 

On January 31, 2024, at the Jasmine City Hotel in Bangkok, the Workshop on Sharing Knowledge and Experiences on Small-Scale Marine Fisheries Data Collection and Management for Sustainable Development in the APEC Region under the Project OFWG 01 2022 was inaugurated by Dr. Taworn Thunjai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries. This initiative was spearheaded by the DoF, with the TBTI Global Foundation as project consultants, led by Assoc. Prof. Kungwan Juntarashote and Prof. Dr. Ratana Chuenpagdee. The objective of the workshop was to develop best practice guidelines for data collection and management of small-scale marine fisheries in the APEC region, utilizing data from the economy's surveys and management of small-scale marine fisheries, exchanged perspectives, knowledge, experiences, problems, obstacles, and participatory problem-solving in data collection and management of small-scale marine fisheries of APEC member economies and experts through the aforementioned workshop.

 

The aforementioned workshop took place from 31 January to 2 February 2024, with participants from member economies of APEC, totaling 8 countries, and representatives from international organizations including SEAFDEC, Sustainable Development Foundation, Environmental Justice Foundation, FAO, educational institutions, and related individuals, totaling 45 attendees.
